Russian rubium, the world’s most powerful atomic bomb, has the greatest arsenal of any weapon in the world, the head of the US nuclear weapons control agency said.
A top US official said on Thursday that Russia had the largest and most powerful stockpile of weapons in the arsenal, according to a confidential assessment by the US National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).
The assessment said the Russian nuclear arsenal contained about 5,000 nuclear warheads, and had a total of about 3,000 weapons.
“Russia has the highest number of warheads in the entire world,” the US official told reporters at a briefing on the report.
“The Russians have a huge stockpile of nuclear weapons, they’ve got about 5.5 to 6 times as many as the US.
The Russians have about 3.5 times the warheads as the Americans.”
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Russia has the largest inventory of weapons of any country.
The NNSA analysis said Russia’s nuclear arsenal is roughly equivalent to that of China and India.
China and India, two of the world is biggest nuclear powers, have roughly twice as many warheads as Russia.
Russia, meanwhile, has only about 1.8 times the number of weapons as China, the official said.
Russia has been increasing its stockpile of warheads since the end of the Cold War, the US government’s top nuclear weapons inspector, William Kline, told reporters on Thursday.
Kline said the number is increasing, although he did not say when it might reach its peak.
The top US nuclear arms official, retired Lt.
Gen. David Goldfein, said on Wednesday that Russia’s stockpile is equivalent to China’s, and that Russia should be worried.
The report said Russia had been increasing the number and quantity of warheads and delivery systems.
Goldfein said that while the number might increase, Russia is not at a point where it has a significant enough stockpile of these weapons to threaten the US, US allies or Israel.
Klin said that although Russia is making strides in increasing its weapons, its weapons program remains a problem.
He said the Russians are also not able to develop their own tactical nuclear weapons.

“What I’m saying is that Russia, with the largest number of deployed nuclear warheads in terms of numbers, has a lot more warheads than the US,” Klin said.
The Russian nuclear arms have long been the subject of criticism, with some experts saying that Russia is using them to justify a lack of transparency in its weapons programs.US officials have long said Russia is hiding its nuclear arsenal in an underground facility, with few if any transparency in how much is actually being spent on weapons programs, and how much could be used to make bombs or build missiles.
The US has previously accused Russia of spending billions of dollars on weapons in secret.
A former senior US official, speaking on condition that he not be identified, said in February that Russia spends billions of the countrys $1.6 trillion annual budget on weapons development and that the country could spend hundreds of billions of additional dollars if it wants to build a nuclear weapon.
